Memorie di San Salvatore: convent, parish, museum

Lunedì 5 giugno è stata inaugurata nei locali della Curia della Custodia di Terra Santa 𝐥𝐚 𝐦𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚 “𝐌𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐞 𝐝𝐢 𝐒𝐚𝐧 𝐒𝐚𝐥𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐞: 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭, 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐡, 𝐦𝐮𝐬𝐞𝐮𝐦”, 𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐳𝐳𝐚𝐭𝐚 𝐝𝐚𝐥 𝐓𝐞𝐫𝐫𝐚 𝐒𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐭𝐚 𝐌𝐮𝐬𝐞𝐮𝐦. La mostra si concentra sul 𝒍𝒆𝒈𝒂𝒎𝒆 𝒕𝒓𝒂 𝒍𝒂 𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒖𝒏𝒊𝒕𝒂̀ 𝒅𝒆𝒊 𝒇𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒊 𝒇𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆𝒔𝒄𝒂𝒏𝒊, sin dal loro arrivo in Terra Santa nel XIII secolo, 𝒆 𝒔𝒖𝒍𝒍𝒂 𝒑𝒐𝒑𝒐𝒍𝒂𝒛𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒈𝒆𝒓𝒐𝒔𝒐𝒍𝒊𝒎𝒊𝒕𝒂𝒏𝒂 nel corso dei secoli, grazie all’esposizione di reperti e documenti che raccontano la storia del Monastero di San Salvatore.

Per quest’occasione, 𝐥𝐚 𝐁𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐚 𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥𝐞 𝐡𝐚 𝐨𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐨 in prestito 𝐮𝐧 𝐩𝐢𝐜𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐨 𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐬𝐦𝐨 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐜𝐨 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐨 𝐜𝐨𝐧 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐢 𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐢 dalla Franciscan Printing Press nel 1900, il 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐚𝐝𝐨 𝐝𝐞 𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐬 𝐲 𝐚𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐨𝐬 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐚 𝐞𝐥 𝐮𝐬𝐨 𝐝𝐞 𝐥𝐨𝐬 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐬 𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐨𝐬 𝐝𝐞 𝐜𝐢𝐫𝐮𝐠𝐢𝐚, manuale di medicina illustrato e pubblicato nel 1763, e alcuni 𝒍𝒊𝒃𝒓𝒊 𝒅𝒂𝒍 𝒇𝒐𝒏𝒅𝒐 𝒅𝒊 𝑴𝒖𝒔𝒊𝒄𝒐𝒍𝒐𝒈𝒊𝒂.

Relativamente all’attività della Franciscan Printing Press, oltre ad un torchio viennese in ghisa del 1860, per la mostra è esposta anche una cassettiera contenente alcuni caratteri arabi usati dall’antica tipografia francescana.

On Monday, 5^th June, 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐞𝐱𝐡𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 "𝐌𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐭 𝐒𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐨𝐮𝐫: 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭, 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐡, 𝐦𝐮𝐬𝐞𝐮𝐦", 𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐛𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐓𝐞𝐫𝐫𝐚 𝐒𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐭𝐚 𝐌𝐮𝐬𝐞𝐮𝐦, was inaugurated in the Curia of the Custody of the Holy Land. The exhibition focuses on 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒃𝒐𝒏𝒅 𝒃𝒆𝒕𝒘𝒆𝒆𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒎𝒖𝒏𝒊𝒕𝒚 𝒐𝒇 𝑭𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒊𝒔𝒄𝒂𝒏 𝒇𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒓𝒔, ever since their arrival in the Holy Land in the 13th century, 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒑𝒆𝒐𝒑𝒍𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝑱𝒆𝒓𝒖𝒔𝒂𝒍𝒆𝒎 𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒄𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒔, through the display of artefacts and documents that tell the story of the Monastery of St. Saviour.

For this occasion, the General Library offered on loan 𝐚 𝐬𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐬𝐦 𝐢𝐧 𝐓𝐮𝐫𝐤𝐢𝐬𝐡 𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐀𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬 by the Franciscan Printing Press in 1900, the 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐚𝐝𝐨 𝐝𝐞 𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐬 𝐲 𝐚𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐨𝐬 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐚 𝐞𝐥 𝐮𝐬𝐨 𝐝𝐞 𝐥𝐨𝐬 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐬 𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐨𝐬 𝐝𝐞 𝐜𝐢𝐫𝐮𝐠𝐢𝐚, an illustrated medical manual published in 1763, and some 𝒃𝒐𝒐𝒌𝒔 𝒇𝒓𝒐𝒎 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑴𝒖𝒔𝒊𝒄𝒐𝒍𝒐𝒈𝒚 𝒄𝒐𝒍𝒍𝒆𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏.

Regarding the activity of the Franciscan Printing Press, in addition to a Viennese cast-iron press from 1860, a drawer chest containing Arabic characters is also on display for the exhibition.
